Cadet Law Academy
June 1-6, 2026
Gain real experience as a Kansas law enforcement officer while still in high school.
The Cadet Law Enforcement Academy (CLEA), co-sponsored by the Kansas American Legion, Auxiliary and Kansas Highway Patrol, is held every summer at the Kansas Highway Patrol Training Academy in Salina, Kansas. The deadline to apply is April 15.
CLEA is not intended to recruit future law enforcement personnel. Instead, it offers high school students the opportunity to gain knowledge regarding training and responsibilities of law enforcement officials. Upon graduation students should better understand, respect and appreciate law enforcement personnel at all levels.
To qualify for the Academy, applicants must have completed their junior or senior year of high school with a “C” average scholastically and be physically able to participate in all activities. Training is provided by qualified instructors from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
