The Kansas Highway Patrol is a CALEA Accredited Agency with CALEA TRI-ARC status.

CALEA Accredited Agency

The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) accredits agencies who commit to meeting national law enforcement standards. CALEA’s Standards for Law Enforcement Agencies© and its Accreditation Programs has become the primary method for an agency to voluntarily demonstrate their commitment to excellence in law enforcement. The Kansas Highway Patrol received initial Law Enforcement Accreditation on July 28, 2018. The agency will be assessed annually and seek re-accreditation in July 2022.

In addition to Law Enforcement Accreditation, the Kansas Highway Patrol Training Academy achieved Training Academy Accreditation in July 2020 and the Kansas Highway Patrol Communication Centers achieved Communications Accreditation in March 2021. In recognition of receiving accreditation in all three programs, the Patrol was awarded the CALEA TRI-ARC Award in March 2021. The Kansas Highway Patrol is one of only four state-level police agencies in the nation to receive this recognition.
